Prefers shade, may take more sun in cool summer regions, but fries here in Kentucky in full sun....Read More For me it is very winter hardy but mostly in gravel; it disappears in some rich soils even though it grows well in them in Summer. Nonetheless, it prefers moisture in Summer. Very low growing making neat little mounds. Very easy to grow if properly sited. I recommend gardeners new to the plant to divide it and try it in several locations to find it's "sweet spot." Like most Sedums it roots extremely easily from any stem in contact with soil. It makes an excellent candidate to grow in the margins of a gravel path in dappled shade. I imagine it would do well in some Alpine (but not too cold) gardens.
