Some sun is required for best foliage color, but this is not a full sun plant here. I have it on the east side of a fence where it gets a couple of hours of late morning sun. Needs careful placement for best foliage color, which depends on degree of sun exposure.
This is a hybrid involving Hydrangea serrata and H. macrophylla. It should have a little more winter hardiness than H. macrophylla.
As with all hydrangeas, it can cause gastric upset if ingested in large quantities. Also toxic to dogs, cats, and horses. Deer resistant.
