Like the species, this blooms for 2-3 weeks in late spring (late May in Boston Z6a) and then occasionally produces a few flowers sporadically the rest of the season.
Stems are bright green and provide winter interest. They have an attractive zigzag architecture. In Z6a, a lot of winter dieback is usually visible in spring---dead wood is pale tan and very conspicuous because of its color. Spreads by suckering, but not aggressively.
Flowers last much longer in shade than in sun. Bloom is good even in total shade.
