Nowadays there are 'better' blue colored cultivars. However, Phlox 'Le Mahdi' is desirable to grow for its (reddish blue in daytime) flowers that light up violet blue during early evening. Phlox 'Le Mahdi' flowers over a long period (6-9). It has dark green foliage. Its pale blue flowerbuds makes it also very attractive. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it an Award of Merit (AGM).
