The one maintenance thing you need to do is remove dead leaves (plant overall just seems rather cramped) if you care about that sort of thing.
Downside: only insects its flowers seem to attract in my yard are sugar ants. I think the flowers are too cramped to be used by hummingbirds and butterflies compared to the larger Ixora species.
