However, Orientals have iss...Read Moreues for me, and the pictures uploaded show my dilemma’s. The Orientals tend to bloom at the very end of our hottest month here. This one bloomed after over a month of 100+ temperatures. I am still trying to figure out what is causing the burn on the petals. I think it is related to a) the heat b) the dryness or a combination of the two. I am still learning but I did notice that the brown burn on the outer petals showed up on the outside of the bud after several very hot days where they did not receive that much water. Also, we have alkaline soil which Orientals supposedly don't like. Some of my Orientals do better for me but this one is sensitive to something unwelcome in this location. I did post a cry for help on the Lilies Forum and based on their comments I am going to move them under a tree for partial shade during high temps. Note: I would not let my posted pictures or these issues I am having cause you to shy away from growing this lily - Cause I have some very harsh environmental conditions for Orientals and you should just see the
