The leaves are small, three to four times longer than broad, with warts and minute sparse bristles on their entire surface. The edges are crenulate and dentate. The leaves also become quite hard so I can see why Holly gets a mention. The stems are a bright burgundy red. A pretty Begonia which self pollinates with ease. It grows in dense woodland at altitude near Trinidad in Cuba, scrambling and tumbling over edges on the ground.
