Central Phoenix -- Gasteraloe "Goliath", which is apparently a hybrid of Gasteria brachyphylla and Aloe variegata, grows well in my yard....Read More I have one plant in the ground in partial summer shade and full winter sun. It gets water twice a week in summer and once a month in winter. Winter protection is light -- just a thin layer of deciduous leaves that have protected it from the 26F low last winter and the 27F so far this winter. I have another in a pot that overwinters inside. I have had them since fall 2014 and only the one in the pot has put out pups. However, both are quite healthy and relatively large for a Gasteraloe -- in keeping with the "Goliath" name.
