The ...Read Morefoliage is nice in season, but it has been growing very slowly. The location is very sunny and the soil is pretty much hard clay, so that may account for it. I have yet to see it flower profusely in the Spring and flower again later in the season, but maybe next year will be better. The label also said that it should grow to 5 or 6 feet tall, but time will tell. I see that Dave's Garden has it listed as 2 or 3 feet tall. I will make another update after next year's growing season.
Well 2015 is almost over. This year has been a better one for the weigela, even though the CT summer was a hot and dry one. It flowered nicely in the spring but I did not see any more flowers after that. The foliage was nice all growing season and showed no signs of stress during the tough summer. It has doubled in size since I planted it to the size of a beach ball.
