I've found that it grows outward faster...Read More than upward -- mine's now about 30 inches wide but only 16 inches high. I've planted 'Tequila Sunrise', 'Pina Colada', and 'Evening Glow' in a slightly sunnier bed, and we'll see what happens.
The Coprosmas are said to be good plants for seaside use as they are quite salt-tolerant. They do well in our Zone 9B winters, and in fact the colors seem to intensify a bit in the cold weather.
