From the Growers Exchange where I purchased my plant:
"Used in many of the same ways as other varieties from the Mint family, 'Mou...Read Morentain' is a great seasoning for meats, desserts, beverages and sauces. To retain the best flavor when drying, harvest 'Mountain' Mint's tops and leaves when the plant is in bloom. Lending a spicier taste than the fruitier strains like 'Apple' Mint and 'Orange' Mint, 'Mountain' makes a deliciously useful tea.
In its tea form, the medicinal value of 'Mountain' Mint is truly released. Great for treating cough and cold symptoms, this herb also aides in stomach problems and menstrual issues. The plant's ability to bring on menstrual cycles makes this herb unsafe for pregnant women, as it can lead to miscarriages if taken frequently or in high doses. Placing fresh crushed leaves directly on a toothache or wound is said to immediately help stop pain.
'Mountain' Mint like many of its cousins, is also a natural insect repellent. Place it in your drawers, closets and rub it on your clothing to deter insects. You can also fill a small, breathable bag or pillow case with this and place it in the dryer with your clothes for a laundry load of fresh mint smelling clothing.
Also considered highly important by many Native American tribes, 'Mountain' Mint was thought to bring people back from the dead. Tribes used to crush fresh mint and place it in the noses of those who were on the brink of death, claiming the powerful aroma would snap them back to life."
