He designed; constructed and did the lay-out of private estate gardens in Canada; Denmark; Great Britain and Italy. His most famous work is undoubtedly the design and lay out of ‘The Gardens of Remembrance’, part of ‘The Battery Conservancy’ located at the southern tip of Manhattan Isle in New York. The ‘Garden of Remembrance’ is located at the border of the Hudson River. Along the elevated portion of the promenade lies the 3500 square metre large garden. These vast perennial gardens pay tribute to; those who perished on September 11, 2001 when the twin Towers were destroyed by terrorist attacks. Piet Oudolf has designed these gardens. They were planted on May 8th 2003 with native grasses and flowering perennials. Among perennials like Eupatorium, Helenium, Bee Balm of course also this P. amplexicaulis 'Firedance'.
