Actually a C.frutescens / Chinense cross, this plant is anything but a typical C. frutescens in terms of both appearance and flavour. The pods have Chinense characteristics being pungent and wrinkled. They look very much like the similarly named Aribibi Gusano (the Caterpillar pepper). They mature from white to yellow. The seeds are much sought after although very hard to get. Gusanito translates to "worm"
History:·This variety has an interesting past: first it was collected by a USDA agent at market place in Vaca Diez Province of Bolivia, then it was donated to the NPGS 1998 as a Capsicum ssp., then changed to Capsicum annuum and finally to Capsicum frutescens. The seeds are white which makes it more unusual.
