In mild winter climates, such as the one in which I live, seed can be sown in late fall/early winter for earlier spring flowering. The plants in the posted photos were grown from seed sown in late winter (February) — coming into bloom within 90 days from sowing (April).
Since this cultivar is cited as being open-pollinated, and neither I nor my neighbors are growing any other sweet peas, I will allow some of the pods to mature. The seeds are generally ready for harvest when light pressure applied to the pod causes it to begin to split.
