I noticed while looking at the plants there were of course far fewer flower buds but also they were lower in the branch structure kind of hidden from common view. If you notice looking at marketing photos the pink variety is always shown in full shrub pictures while the red is shown in close up of the flower. The red I am sure is great in color but if you are truly looking for a bang for a flowering shrub, I wouldn't rely on the sonic red providing it to the expectations of marketing. If it seems the chances of a plant breeder hitting it big with 3 reblooming shrubs within the same family for a "series release" seems to be too good to be true it's likely that it is.
