It is of medium height, it has splendid upright stems carrying large flowers with very wide, light rose-pink guard petals surrounding a bunch of beautiful wide petaloids of light yellow, trimmed with rose color to match the petals. The quality of both wide petals and the petaloids is of the very best, and as both the cut flower value and the landscape value of this Peony are all that could be desired, we have decided that it is undoubtedly one of the six best Japanese Peonies in the world. AMA-NO-SODE (Japan) - Japanese - Pink - Midseason. Medium height. Poor fragrance. Very large. The flower has not more than two rows of long, wide-spread petals of rose-pink forming a saucer-like cup about an immense center of long, yellow staminodes with flattened, crinkled tips stained with rose; carpels green with yellowish tips and white kernels at the base. Vigorous growth; very floriferous; strong stems. Good foliage.
