WILLIAM F. TURNER (Shaylor). Probably the best red Peony o...Read Moreriginated by the late E. J. Shaylor of Auburndale, Massachusetts. The bloom is double, loosely built, showing stamens at the collar and center, and it blooms nearly as early as RICHARD CARVEL. Four years ago both varieties opened on the same day, and like RICHARD CARVEL, its laterals extend the blooming period almost to the end of the season. Its landscape value is almost as good as that of RICHARD CARVEL and CHERRY HILL, and in cool seasons when the sun does not burn its beautiful red petals, it deserves to rank very high among the world's best red Peonies. However, like KARL ROSENFELD, it cannot stand hot sunshine and a temperature above 95 degrees. $5.00
