Foliage is silvery and sage-like. Flower spikes to 10" tall begin blooming in mid-August and may continue into November. Needs cool temperatures to initiate flowering.

Needs good drainage. Adaptable as to soil pH. Said to be drought tolerant.

This is usually said to be hardy from Z6b-Z9---however, it's proven hardy outdoors in the Smith College Botanical Garden, Northampton, MA, in Zone 5a.
