Followed all instructions for planting. Planted S.E., but not in south scorch, planted more eastern than south. Rich well-drained soil, large hole, fertilized a few weeks ago w/ 10-10-10. Same problem occurring this year (April) as last, and nowhere can I find anyone who claims to have difficulty with this tree.
In springtime leaves get small dark brown spots, then dry, dead margins develop (edges), and ultimately, as right now (April 22, 2012), several inches of dead, crisp leaves appear on mostly all of the tips.
I've observed leaf sucking flies on our weeping, Lilac Twist Redbud, and wonder if these have created the same problem for the katsura?
