Our mildest winter in decades (winter 2012) made it all die back to the ground. It resprouted, but not with any vigor. This past week of monsoon-like rain has pretty much killed it. Probably a great plant for anyone in a drier region, though; hence my positive rating.
Update, July 2014: It grew back with a vengeance and became quite impressive. But the mega-rain of May 2014 gave it root rot and it has now kicked the bucket again... or so it seems.
