Do not do as I have done, however, plopping this little evergreen into the garden bed, planning only for its eventual mature size; it is waste and folly. Xera says it is a very pretty container plant, but I would say it probably *should* be a container plant for its first two years at least. The delicate washes of colors over the seasons and demure growth are utterly lost in the wilds of a panorama. It demands the careful vignette of a container, where it can serve as a exclamation point to suit its stature. And yet, I do love it, because it is hardy and native to our region, so far trouble free with whatever attention I haven't lavished on it.
