It is very small with pads 1-2" in length occasionally slightly longer. In keeping with the pad size flowers are small too. Spines seem to be less abundant than other polyacantha varieties. Sometimes gets confused with O. fragilis.
So far so good with growing them in the Northeast but time will tell if they are as hardy to cold/humid/wet conditions as the larger polyacantha's from the high plains are.
