It always has white flowers, but can be distinguished when not flowering by its leaves which are held out horizontally rather than vertically (as in C. perfoliata ssp. falcata). The leaf tips are also quite rounded, giving the whole leaf the look of a greyish tongue depressor stick! Got a nearly rootless sad...Read More specimen and just stuck it in the front yard in dead of winter, sort of feeling guilty that it was probably gonna die... but it has turned out to be a resiliant plant and never looked back. Handled lots of rain and shade with only a few really warm days to stimulate growing (maybe prefers cooler weather?).
