It actually sent up a scape with a few blooms the following month, but it really came into its own in 2007. Many scapes, with lots of buds. The scapes were not remotely as tall as the database indicates. But since I grew it in a pot, perhaps that is why. I have to say that I liked the shorter scapes better, since they were in good proportion to the small flower.

The blooms are fairly...Read More small, and the plant itself does not get really big. But it is one of the earliest bloomers in our garden, and we get lots of compliments on it. The third year we had it, the plant produced 6 scapes with more than 30 buds. It does not appear to be a very fast multiplier.
The bright yellow center contrasts well with the dark, dark purple. It suits its name very well.
