It is the main plant species that holds together the beach dunes at the great vacation destination of Rehoboth Beach. A number of residential yards near the beach have this tall grass growing in the yard or parkway, making a nice naturalistic, low maintenance landscape. Other beach or sandy area plants like Adam's-Needle Yucca, Loblolly or Virginia or Japanese Black Pines, Northern Bayberry, Shiny Sumac, Goldenrods, and others grow and look good with it. The plant is a tall clump, yet spreads quickly through sandy soil to create a colony.
