It does, however, now have a mild case on a few leaves, which is common in young plants and in our region. The foliage is quite lovely, glossy and dark green with a beautiful, subtle, burgundy tone on the new growth. The bloom is bright cherry red and classically shaped, resembling a hybrid tea bloom. The bush has (so far) a compact, upright, sturdy habit. It is the best garden performer of my eight varieties so far. The bud is dark red, and the open blossom is a more vibrant shade of red. It has red thorns on green stems, which I find quite attractive. My only caution is that the color needs to be in surroundings where the bright red will harmonize with other plants. I would not plant this rose near burgundy, pink, or any soft shades. It will look good with white or bright shades like yellow or vibrant purple.
