Wonderful. In wild state the plants bloom after numerous years (sometimes even after as numerous as 20 years from seed to flower). In cultivation the flowers develop in second or third year of living. After flowering and fruiting the plants die.This plant can probably be cultivated as vegetable (for young capitulums used as a cardoon). The cutting of young "flower buds" still and still when they are appearing should prevent against a dying of plants, so it can become a prolific perennial vegetable.
