However, I always see the same varieties over and over again: Barbara Karst, Miami Pink, San Diego Red, California Gold, James Walker Elizabeth Angus and Thai Delight. We also see some of the dwarf variegated versions.
I found my Don Mario at a nursery and I had to buy it for its very unusual color. I haven’t seen a pic online that shows it’s color well. It’s kind of has an ombré effect, the color Elizabeth Angus (a deep violet) fading to Barbara Karst (reddish) at the tips, giving it a multicolored look. It glows when the sun shines through it and I get a lot of comments asking about it. I’ll add a photo.
It’s not fussy, same growth as any other bougainvillea and has medium green leaves.
