The brilliant foliage lived up my expectations. Once hit by frost though, it lost many of its leaves and what remains became an unattractive drab color. The same thing happened to a mature planting at a nearby college. While it's been below freezing, we've not experienced really cold temperatures yet.
I will be moving these either to the back or side of the house where their unattractive winter look will not detract from the front of my house. Not sure how this plant qualifies as an evergreen.

It is definitely not evergreen in zone 7B. It sheds most of its leaves during the winter.
