However, in the shade, my plant is an ugly, open, upright grower. The flower buds have a funny habit of reverting back to leaves after they have formed, producing ugly, tiny misshapen leaves all over the plant. The over-all effect is not pleasant. It is the ugliest rhody plant I have. However, I have seen this growing in a sunnier garden and it looked much better than mine!
