Both male and female cones are quite small, rivaling Ceratozamia microstrobila for their diminutive size. However leaflets are quite large, and sparsely spaced along the drooping petioles, and tend to have a powdery dusting on them making them look a bit bluish. Caudex is mostly subterranian. Plants tend only to hold 4-8 leaves at a time. Not a great plant for full sun, at least in inland southern California.
