This summer (2014) has been colder & damper than previous summers. Winter 2013/2014 was especially frigid but shrub survived beautifully :). Bees absolutely love this plant when it blooms and i've noticed a few butterflies hanging around. I'm a novice gardener, everythings an experiment right now. But to sum up....i'm loving this shrub, it's my favourite in our garden.

Most plants that are variegate...Read Mored are less hardier than their plain green counter parts. Plants should be cut back in spring time after new growth emerges and are slow to emerge just like butterfly bush. Plant before September and mulch with leaves to establish the roots. Will report next year if it doesn't make it.
