The male flowers emit the odor of rotten oranges and attract fruitflies. Collect pollen or cross with another Anthurium when the female flowers are viable. The fruit takes a year to mature. Press seed out of the berries as they ripen and plant immediately on damp peatmoss. The berry juice contains calcium oxalate which can irritate mucous membranes, so wash hands after collecting seed. The seedlings will require constant moisture for at least their first year. This plant likes porous soil with a high organic content. Wood mulch, perlite and potting soil is a good mix. Temperature range is 60 to 80F.
