Year after year, the plant will die, in summer due heat, in winter due cold. I have one plant left from original 12, which is not good shape, but at least it survived the last mild winter. The plant is at partial shade next to huge rhododendron. My conclusion is that the plant does not like to be on exposed place, to get too much sun. I have planted many rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, and gardenias, but only mountain laurel proved to be too difficult to grow in NoVA, zone 7.
