It does not show any growth until late April or May, but is in bloom by June. It produces many seedlings. My plants are growing in a heavy clay-loam soil. Seeds sown indoors during the winter will sometimes bloom their first summer outdoors. Be careful of the spines. They are as bad or worse than thistle spines.
