It is not commonly planted in landscapes in the US and Canada, though it seems to be much more popular in New Zealand and cooler parts of Australia. Different from the mother species of the Prairie Crabapple in having truly pink, semi-double to double flowers. It does bear the same yellowish-green crabapples about 1 to 2" in diameter. There is a 'Klem's Improved Plena' Betchel Crabapple that is more resistant to diseases, especially Cedar Rust, though it still suffers from that.
