Troublesome Sedge

This native sedge grows in wet to mesic soils. It is unsuitable for xeriscaping.

When I initially talked to the seller of this plant, my intention was to get something native that can be aggressive enough to overwhelm creeping charlie. He mentioned this one as a possibility for my growing conditions. I laughed at the name, "So is it really 'troublesome'?"? He said it isn't really. I confirmed this through other sources. It merely has a troublesome name.

I have no idea why this site designates it as an "invasive or noxious weed" when even the USDA who keeps up to date on federal and state laws on this subject, does not have this designation whatsoever! In fact, its legal status is Threatened in the states of NY and Connecticut!!
