Leptinella Species

This species and L. pyrethrifolia are used as lawn alternative in several display gardens at Appeltern in the Netherlands (approximately ...Read MoreZone 7) They provide a dense low carpet of green similar to a top-quality lawn or moss expanse, but with a bronze tint. Works particularly well in a Japanese-styled garden, where it surrounds the stepping stones.
Growers in the Netherlands recommend spacing of 8-11 plants per square metre, or about 1 foot between plants; wider spacing presumably just takes more time to fill the space in between.
