I have the Ameri-willow growing right next to another hybrid willow, and has the exact same characteristics of that. Most hybrid willows sold in the market place are actually no different than the Austree, which is said to be a hybrid between Salix alba and Salix matsudana. Also, black willow in a hybrid would not be a good thing. Black willow is like the crack willow, and its branches snap off the easiest of the willows. The reason they said it had the native black willow in it, was for their marketing campaign of calling it the Ameriwillow.
You are better off buying a hybrid willow from a legit company that doesn't try to trick the customers and offers good customer service.
