Hopefully, if size is different, its significant enough that size flower will help, maybe measurement and comparison. The comparison goes on...mine is not as plump right now, but I think it is because we are in winter...hope so. At the moment we are average -2 to 2 degree C in morning and 17-20 C in midday. I'm putting the mesembs to bed at night (covering them up), just in case. Because of space, they get most of their sunshine late morning (midday) onwards. I will investigate further their origin in E.Cape, just to get a better idea of temps, because the E.Cape province goes from sea level to Lesotho mountains, where is snows a lot. Most cold-fronts also pass through there, givng lots of rain right now. I live on the "highveld", meaning we have summer rainfall and thunderstorms, rarely rain in winter. There is therefore also a huge difference in humidity in E. Cape, compared to us, and also in terms of Northern Cape (where you find lots of litops). Hopefully being here in SA can contribute to some understanding of natural conditions.
Corpuscularia occus from Port Elizabeth to Grahamstown on rocky slopes, where they are often shaded by vegetation. This is 60m (190ft) up to 650m (2100ft) for Grahamstown. The distance between PE and Grahamstown as the crow flies is 110km or 68 miles.
Port Elizabeth: Average min of 18C summer and 9-10 C in winter, with max of 25 C in summer and 20 C in winter. Cold fronts in the winter and some summer rainfall, giving an average of 8-10 days rainfall per month.
Grahamstown : Being located on the fringes of the arid Karoo, the weather can be extremely hot during January and February (30 C) and a trifle chilly in winter. Grahamstown is located on the eastern periphery of the mediterranean rainfall area which covers the southern Cape. This means that it can conceivably rain at any time of the year. During winter rain is typically caused by cold fronts moving eastwards. In summer you can expect convection thunder showers.
