This is at it's brightest during winter when nothing has any color in the garden. It also propagates very easily and can make a very eye catching display as a border edging plant.
I purchased two (2) of these plants at the end of the season in 2007. Listed on the card a "Calicoplant: Red, Green, Yellow" and "Altern...Read Moreenthera Bettzichiana". This is a gorgeous low sprawling plant.
I took several clippings and rooted them in less than optimal conditions over the winter. It is a very hearty plant. I moved these clippings into the garden last Spring (2008) and ended up with the 3' x 4' area you see in the picture to the right. I've rooted several clippings again this past winter and plan to make this plant the main 'under-planting' for one of my beds. It makes for a very attractive backdrop!
