Today, May 7, 2008 is the first bloom achieved and as you can see by the pictures, it was well worth the wait.

I would add that the stamens are hot pink, not red.
Scent is heavenly... Crisp, clean, clear with a hint of citrus.
Leaves on my tree have a tendency toward tearing/crumpling when unfurling. I do not know if this is unique to my own yard's environment or something that is specific to the plant. This does not hinder the tree in any way and appears it may be associated with where the squirrels tore it up.
