This was a fabulous hanging basket petunia. It grew very full for me, hanging on my east facing p...Read Moreorch. The bright color was quite eye catching. I would get many comments about how gorgeous the baskets were.
This variety was around for a number of years and available from several greenhouses in the western MidWest, at least 2013-2017. After that, it suddenly disappeared from the greenhouses. When I asked about it, I got a few confusing looks and comments. One greenhouse said that too many people were propagating them with out the patent, so it was discontinued. Someone else said that there was a problem with consistency of color and growth.(which I have a hard time believing, since they grew so lush and beautiful for several years in my hanging baskets)
Does anyone know what really happened to this fabulous petunia??
Does anyone have any other similar colored Supertunia or similar petunia variety suggestions?

The only bad thing I have to say is that they ca...Read Moren get stringy if they aren't properly trimmed, and given their own space to grow.
Never had any problems growing them.

It thrives in the sun, stands up to drought, and this year is doing very well in the wettest spring/summer we've had in years. What I really like is its amazingly strong stem. It does not break and produces many new shoots that flower profusely. Besides all this, it is beautiful!
These petunias are very sensitive to over watering. After a week of significant rain my hanging baskets of Supertunias (both of them) qui...Read Moreckly died while my other petunias (Wave and Opera) did not. For this reason alone I cannot recommend the Supertunia series.
