i planted four of these in the fall (in bottomless planters). they receive very little sun in winter and our winter was extremely cold f...Read Moreor this area. we had many mornings of frosts and freezes. these plants grew and prospered and stayed green all winter despite many hardier and more established plants around them dying. i assumed they were annuals for my area and would die. am now waiting for the sun to change direction and as we head into spring, it will be interesting to see if they stay healthy and bloom. they will be in full, brutal sun all summer.
update-3/8/11...these plants bloomed most of the 2010 summer and then suddenly began dying off in august. i pulled them as it was time for them to go. about december i noticed a lot of little seedlings popping up all around the pots where they had been. i let them go and now they have begun to bloom. apparently the seeds are not sterile as described. they are the same color as the parent plants. i'm happy! they require no care and are a lot nicer looking than most sprawly verbenas.

This plant has been a prolific bloomer this Spring. Just beautiful.
