Winterize in late fall, water thoroughly; apply winter mulch; bring container plants to unheated, protected area. Also if new growth shows in spring, watch for frosts. I cover with a styro cooler on cool spring nights just in case. The plant is beautiful and worth the little extra care. Blooms on my shrub are vibrant red/fuschia - not the typical purple/red. The foliage is very deep green. The stats I posted are based on my 1 yr old shrub.
