Most of the prominent yellow-flowered hybrids have reddish to purplish calyces behind the petals, which provides a striking contrast. 'Wiero' has none of this coloration, having yellowish to greenish calyces, making the flower parts seem all as one color. Minor, but important to those interested in the details.

'Wiero' is also sweetly fragrant, but lightly so, for those who want to enjoy this bonus in their winter gardens.
