Has a dusting of bloom on the leaves that can be rubbed off, but not to the point of getting the leaves a deep dark green like the normal form. New flush of leaves are bluish-purple, not pale green as it would be in a normal Encephalartos arenarius. Leaflets are similar in shape but have a more twisted, 3 dimensional look, somewhat like Encephalartos horridus. Highly sought after and incredibly ornamental plant. Offsets well, but not as prolifically as the green form.
