San Tan Valley, AZ (Zone 9a) | February 2008 | positive
Grown from seed planted nearly 2 years ago. Germinated quickly sending down a long tap root so use a deep container. Took several month...Read Mores before any above ground growth occurred. Has gone through two flushes of growth of two "fronds" each. Currently has second flush still alive. Hopefully will be sending out more growth soon. Slow growth but easy to care for. Is in a pot in the house. Only water every 2-3 weeks and put in a bright location. Is native to Queensland Australia and was described only as recently as 2004. In it's native habitat it grows in savanna type vegetation on poor, sandy or rocky soil. It's fruit is covered in a thick, white waxy layer. Hopefully can get a photo soon.
