Very drought tolerant and survives freezing temperatures for me with no problems; full blazing Texas summer and winter sun. Good-sized bulbs on these, give them a little room--foliage resembles a smaller Crinum species and never goes dormant for me. I would say despite the fact that it never goes completely dormant; its a summer-growing, winter dormant South African native. Blooms in mid-summer and makes an excellent container or rock garden plant. A really nice Albuca species (nicer than many of them) for the collector; also a very good low maintenance bulb.
