The third year it became a heavy fruiter in good improved soil, I added peat, compost and manure to my clay based native soil. I am very pleased and can recommend. I believed mine is a grafted version from Burnt Ridge Nursery to be a dwarf size. Excellent with rhubard in sauce and hope that its flavor profile gets even more complex as both the soil improves with age and earthworm activity (bioavailibility of nutrients), and the root system matures. I also am trying a nigra and shangrila varieties, also both dark berries, for flavor comparison. Also of interest the protein content of the leaves suppossedly exceeds that of dry grain and mulberry is used in pasture areas for cow, sheep and other milking animals for specialty high quality cheese production by those in the know... clean, green, protein for mammals.
